New Year, New Beginning
It’s Jan 1st, 2011 and this is my first blog for the year. So I thought of doing a short rewind 2010 and list down my plans for 2011.
Last year was quite interesting. Firstly, I managed to redesign my website. Also, instead of having a static site I decided to blog. Even though it was my first attempt to blog, I am sure I could have done better. So this year, one of my resolutions is to blog regularly. Twitter also face the neglect, so correcting that is also in the part of the plan.
Professionally, I did quite interesting work. There was variety and new challenges each time, so it was quite satisfying. The most important of all things was me qualifying for a design contest in Las Vegas. That was big, but sadly, I did not make it to the finals. But the whole experience was worth it. I also managed short a short trip to San Francisco and New York, so that was nice.
By the year-end, my close friend for four years, my laptop, gave in. I shed tears, but it was time to move on. I bought myself a sleek and sexy iMac, a New Year gift for myself. Boy these things are good, an awesome Apple experience.
Personally, I did something that I have wanted to do for some time now. I made a short trip to Pondicherry to learn Ceramics, and then a few months later tried my hand at wheel pottery in Mumbai. But like most things go, I have not been able to concentrate on pottery. So another resolution for the year is to make sure I make the time to pursue it.
So what are the other resolutions/to-do/plans for 2011?
Apart from blogging, tweeting and pottery – these are the other things
I have had some bad experience with my earlier clients, and so I intend to get some kind of system in place. By system I mean, certain protocols and one of the things would be to charge some percentage during the first stage of the project, unless the client is recommended by my family or friends. Also, rather than just going by face to face, phone conversations and informal emails, I plan get clients fill a form detailing the brief and other terms and conditions for the assignment.
Last but not the least, to start my company, rather our [me and my husband] company – ‘Lemon and Chillies’.
Well, guess that’s it as far as making new plans go. Hope I materialize them.
Happy New Year all, and have a wonderful year ahead.
